Missions Involvement

Partnership in Romania
In July of 2006, Summit Woods went on its first mission trip to Baile Olanesti, Romania. We have entered a partnership with a local Baptist Church with the goal of starting new churches in this largely unevangelized part of Romania. Twenty-two members took part in the recent trip. Haiti Mission Trip
Summit Woods is preparing for its fifth mission trip to Haiti in January 2007. The trip provides opportunities for medical work, construction work, and helping in the local orphanage. Click here to read more information.

KC Homeless Ministry
Bradley & Christy Gillespie, members of Summit Woods, began “The Manna Project” in 2004 as a ministry to meet the needs of the Homeless community in Kansas City. Food, personal items, clothing, and evangelistic tracts are taken out twice a month. If you would be interested in donating items for this ministry or helping to deliver packages to the homeless, contact the Gillespies here.

Disaster Relief
We are partnering with the Missouri Baptist Convention to provide a team of people from Summit Woods that can respond in times of natural disaster. Training and Cerification is available for all who would like to take part in this ministry. Click here to read more information.

Local Crisis Pregnancy Center
The Rachel House is a local pregnancy resource center that helps young women facing unplanned pregnancies. This Christ-centered ministry has several locations including one across from Lee’s Summit North High School. Summit Woods gives monthly financial support for the Rachel House and has members that serve as volunteers.

Pastor Maxwell Sakala of Zambia, Africa
Summit Woods has provides full support for Pastor Maxwell Sakala and his family. A percentage of what is given to our Mission Offering goes to provide for food, housing, clothing, children’s education, medicine, and ministry expenses. We will be receiving quarterly updates from Pastor Maxwell. It is our privilege to be a part of God’s work in Zambia!

North American Mission Board (info. from www.sbc.net)
“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest… to send out workers into His harvest field.” – Matthew 9:37-38.

The North American Mission Board exists to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, start New Testament congregations, minister to persons in the name of Christ, and assist churches in the United States and Canada in effectively performing these functions.

The North American Mission Board, SBC, has over 42,000 churches encompassing over 45,000 congregations. The harvest yields nearly 1,700 new works and 420,000 souls baptized each year!

International Mission Board (info. from www.sbc.net)
“The Unfinished Task” is leading Southern Baptists to be on mission with God to bring all the peoples of the world to saving faith in Jesus Christ. Supported through the Cooperative Program budget and by the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, and the concerted prayers of Southern Baptists world-wide, the International Mission Board is being used by God in amazing ways.

Through the IMB, Southern Baptists are lead in efforts to evangelize the lost, disciple believers, develop churches and minister to people in need across the globe. This is accomplished by mobilizing prayer support, appointing missionaries, enlisting volunteers, channeling financial support and communicating how God is working overseas.

The IMB has over 5,000 field workers on assignment. They are joined by nearly 34,000 volunteers to bring the saving message of the Gospel to nearly 2,000 different people groups around the world. How has God used these efforts to plant with passion? Last year alone, IMB workers and their Baptist partners overseas reported a record 451,301 baptisms and 6,525 new churches worldwide.
