Ryan Bowman - Pastor
Ryan Bowman has served as Pastor of Summit Woods since January of 1999. The church family called him to be their first pastor after being led by two interim pastors during the first nine months of ministry. Ryan and his wife, Karen, were married in 1993 and have three children: Natalie Grace born on 11/9/99; Nathaniel “Nate” Ryan born on 12/31/04; and Brock Ashton born on 10/27/06.
Pastor Ryan was raised in Friendswood, TX and came to know the Lord as a fifth-grader at Sagemont Baptist Church in Sagemont, TX. He is a 1993 graduate of the University of Central Arkansas (Bachelor of Arts – Sociology) and graduated cum laude from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Master of Divinity) in 1997.
He was a contributing author to the book, The Chosen Path: 365 Christian Writings & Messages to Inspire Along the Way. It was released in April, 2005 and distributed by LifeWay Bookstores.
Pastor Ryan has served Southern Baptists on the state and national levels. He is currently serving a three year term on the Order of Business Committee for the Missouri Baptist Convention and is the chairman for 2007. In 2006, he was appointed by SBC President Bobby Welch to serve on the Committee on Committees. In 2003, he served on the Missouri Baptist Convention Resolutions Committee.
In addition to expository (verse-by-verse) preaching, Pastor Ryan has a heart for sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ among the nations. He has worked to establish a partnership with a Baptist congregation in southern Romania for the purpose of planting new churches in nearby towns and villages with no church and where no evangelism is taking place. Men’s Ministry is another priority for his ministry. He is convinced that encouraging and equipping the men of the church to follow hard after God will cause men to consider the direction of their lives and the legacy which they are leaving behind. There is an intentional focus to build up the men to provide Godly leadership both in their families and in the church.
When Pastor Ryan is not serving the needs of the church fellowship, he is with his family. The time spent with his wife and children is greatly prized and most of his activities and hobbies include his family.
